First-Year Experience & Orientation

Transfer/Reenter Students Only:

A limited number of students can be accommodated at each orientation session. A date is not reserved until the New Student Fee is received and the date confirmed by Orientation & FYE. Reservations are made on a “first come, first served” basis. There are no waiting lists. The non-refundable new student fee for the April program dates is $75.00. Reserve your date by:

Making a credit card payment online on this Web site. If paying online, e-mail any changes or corrections to orientation@niu.edu; or
Returning the reservation form with payment by cash, check, or money order payable to NIU. If you choose this option, be certain to allow enough time for postal delivery. If payment is received after your tentative or requested date has filled, the next available date will be assigned.

You will receive a postcard or be contacted by this office for confirmation of your date. Do not attend orientation unless your reservation has been confirmed. If you have paid online or mailed payment but have not received a confirmation, please call us at (815) 753-1535 or e-mail us at orientation@niu.edu.

The program begins with check-in at 8:30 a.m. (April programs) in the Holmes Student Center, Gallery Lounge.
