First-Year Experience & Orientation

Transfer/Reenter Students Only:

Dates are tentative and not reserved until the New Student Fee is received and the date is confirmed by Orientation & FYE.

A limited number of students can be accommodated at each orientation session. Reservations are made on a “first come, first served” basis. There are no waiting lists. The non-refundable new student fee for the April/May program dates is $75.00. Reserve your date by:

Making a credit card payment online on this Web site. If paying online, e-mail any changes or corrections to orientation@niu.edu; or
Returning the reservation form you received (or will receive) with payment by cash, check, or money order payable to NIU in the yellow envelope that was enclosed. If you choose this option, be certain to allow enough time for postal delivery. If payment is received after your tentative or requested date has filled, the next available date will be assigned.

You will receive a postcard, or be contacted by this office, for confirmation of your date. Do not attend orientation unless your reservation has been confirmed. If you have paid online or sent in payment and still have not received a confirmation, please call us at (815) 753-1535 or e-mail us at orientation@niu.edu.
